A brief, supportive conversation to help you understand next steps.

At Serenity Wellness and Counseling Center, we believe healing begins when people feel safe, seen, and supported.
Located in Cypress, Texas, we provide counseling, mental health care, coaching, and integrative wellness services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families throughout Cypress and the greater Houston area.
People often reach out to us after carrying something difficult for a long time. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, parenting challenges, ADHD, major life changes, or symptoms that have not fully improved with previous treatment. You may also know that something does not feel right, even if you cannot yet explain exactly what is happening.
You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us. Our role is to listen, learn about what you are experiencing, and help you explore the next step that may be most appropriate for you.
Our team supports people across different stages of life, relationships, and levels of need.

Some of the concerns our clients bring to us include:
Every person’s circumstances are different. No single therapy, provider, coach, or service is appropriate for everyone, which is why we begin by learning about you rather than assuming what you need.
Healing is not a linear process, and every person’s journey is unique. We believe meaningful change happens through compassionate, collaborative care that honors your experiences, strengths, and goals.
Mental health concerns rarely exist in isolation. Our emotions can be influenced by earlier experiences, relationships, nervous-system responses, physical health, sleep, nutrition, environment, culture, beliefs, stress, and the ways we have learned to cope.
For this reason, we look beyond a diagnosis or list of symptoms. We remain curious about the whole person and the different factors that may be contributing to what they are experiencing.
Looking beneath symptoms does not mean ignoring the need for relief. It means recognizing that meaningful care may involve both reducing current distress and understanding the patterns, experiences, or conditions connected to it.
Diagnoses can provide useful language and guide treatment, but they do not define a person.
We honor each client’s strengths, autonomy, values, culture, identity, personal beliefs, and lived experiences. We want clients to feel that they are being treated as complete human beings—not rushed, judged, or reduced to a condition.
We believe clients should have an active voice in their care.
Your provider or coach may bring training, structure, education, and helpful tools, but you bring essential knowledge about your own life. Together, you can discuss goals, consider different approaches, and adjust the direction of care as your needs evolve.
Compassion and honesty are both important to us. Our team aims to create a supportive environment while also helping clients recognize patterns, consider new perspectives, and practice meaningful changes when they are ready.
A central belief at Serenity is that people possess an internal capacity for healing, growth, and greater connection.
We sometimes refer to this as Inner Healing Intelligence—the wisdom and movement toward wholeness that can emerge when a person has the right support, safety, resources, and conditions.
This does not mean people should be expected to heal alone. It means our work is not based on the belief that a provider holds every answer. Our role is to help clients access their own strengths, insight, values, and capacity for change while providing appropriate support along the way.
Mental Health, Coaching, and Integrative Wellness in One Practice
Serenity is more than a traditional counseling office. Our team includes professionals with experience in psychotherapy, trauma care, couples and family work, psychiatry, medication management, coaching, neurofeedback, functional wellness, gut-brain support, somatic practices, and other areas of integrative care.
Depending on the client’s needs, services may include:
These services are options, not requirements. Clients may work with one Serenity provider or coach without participating in other services. Additional support is discussed only when it appears relevant and appropriate.

We value established, evidence-based mental health treatment while remaining open to carefully considered integrative and coaching-based approaches.
Our team members select methods based on their training, credentials, scope of practice, the client’s needs, and the goals established together. We do not assume that every approach is right for every person, and we do not present any service as a guaranteed or immediate solution.
Each Serenity team member brings a different personality, specialty, and area of training. Clients are not expected to fit into one treatment style simply because they come to our practice.
When clinically appropriate and authorized by the client, providers may collaborate to help coordinate care or offer a broader understanding of the client’s needs. Confidentiality and informed consent remain important parts of that process.
Coaching, therapy, psychiatric care, and wellness services each have distinct purposes and professional boundaries. Our team works to communicate those differences clearly so that clients can make informed decisions about their care.
Our goal is for clients to benefit from the resources of a collaborative practice while still receiving care that feels personal and individualized.

Reaching out for mental health, coaching, or wellness support can feel vulnerable. We want the experience of entering Serenity—whether in person or virtually—to feel warm, respectful, and human.
Our team aims to create an environment where clients are not pressured to share more than they are ready to discuss. Trust develops over time, and each client’s pace is respected.
Beginning therapy, coaching, or exploring a new kind of support can feel confusing, especially when a practice offers many services. You do not need to determine the right provider or treatment on your own.
A brief, supportive conversation to help you understand next steps.
Your first step is a brief consultation with a member of our client care team. They will ask about what is bringing you in, the type of support you are seeking, scheduling needs, payment considerations, and any preferences that may be important to you.
Based on the information you provide, our team can recommend a therapist, psychiatric provider, coach, wellness professional, or service that may align with your needs.
A recommendation is not a guarantee of fit. Your first sessions also provide an opportunity for you and your provider or coach to determine whether the relationship and proposed approach feel appropriate.
Your provider or coach will spend time learning about your concerns, history, strengths, goals, and what you hope will be different.
Care may involve one primary approach or a thoughtful combination of methods. Recommendations can change as your provider learns more about you and as your needs evolve.
When Serenity is not the right fit or does not offer the level or type of care needed, we aim to communicate that honestly and provide outside referral options when possible.
Our mission is to provide compassionate, ethical, and individualized mental health, coaching, and integrative wellness care that honors the connection between the mind, body, relationships, environment, and overall well-being.
Through collaborative care, evidence-based treatment, coaching, and thoughtfully selected integrative approaches, we help children, teens, adults, couples, and families better understand what they are experiencing and move toward lives that feel more connected, meaningful, and aligned with their values.
Our vision is to help create a future in which people have access to a broader range of thoughtful, ethical, and personalized options for mental health, personal growth, and whole-person wellness.
We strive to remain curious, continue learning, and expand access to approaches that support emotional, relational, neurological, physical, and personal well-being—while never losing sight of the individual person at the center of care.
Serenity Wellness and Counseling Center grew from both professional training and personal experience.
Nicole and Bryan Bankhead understand that people’s lives cannot always be divided neatly into mental health, physical wellness, relationships, loss, identity, and purpose. Their individual journeys helped shape a shared vision: to create a practice where people could receive compassionate mental health care while also exploring the ways the brain, body, relationships, and life experiences may be connected.
Over the years, Nicole and Bryan have also experienced meaningful healing—both individually and together—through therapy, integrative wellness practices, personal reflection, and carefully held experiences that invited deeper connection with themselves, one another, nature, and a greater sense of meaning.
These experiences strengthened their belief that healing can take many forms and that some of the most important changes occur when people feel safe enough to move beyond intellectual understanding and connect more deeply with what they are carrying.
Their stories are different, but both reflect the values that continue to guide Serenity today: resilience, honesty, compassion, lifelong learning, connection, and respect for each person’s individual path.
Long before becoming a therapist, I understood what it meant to live through experiences that could shape the way a person sees themselves, other people, and the world.
My early life included trauma, instability, and exposure to difficult family circumstances. Those experiences affected me deeply, but they also created an awareness of how much people can carry beneath the surface. As a teenager and young adult, I often became the person friends trusted when they were struggling. I cared deeply about helping people feel less alone and making sure they had someone willing to listen.
I initially pursued work in business and law, but I felt disconnected from a deeper sense of purpose. After traveling overseas and later experiencing the suicide loss of someone close to my family, I began to recognize more clearly that my life needed to move in a different direction.
That direction first led me into education and a behavioral program supporting teenagers with complex emotional and behavioral needs. I discovered that I could connect with young people who often felt misunderstood or overlooked. I became an advocate for them and learned how powerful it can be when someone feels genuinely seen rather than judged by their behavior.
My path eventually led me to counseling and the creation of Serenity Wellness and Counseling Center. In the beginning, I primarily offered traditional therapy. As I continued learning and working with clients, I became increasingly aware that insight and talk therapy alone were not always enough. Some clients understood their patterns intellectually but continued to experience the same emotional, physical, or relational responses.
I began pursuing additional training in trauma care, EMDR, neurobiology, neurofeedback, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and other approaches that considered the connection between the mind and body.
My own healing experiences also influenced the kind of practice I wanted to build. Through therapy, personal reflection, integrative practices, and experiences that allowed me to connect more deeply with myself, nature, and my own inner wisdom, I came to understand the difference between knowing something intellectually and experiencing healing in a more embodied way.
Some of the most meaningful parts of my healing occurred individually, while others unfolded alongside Bryan as we learned to become more honest, present, and connected with ourselves and one another. These experiences reinforced my belief that healing is not about being given all the right answers. It is about having the safety, support, and space needed to listen inward, explore what has been carried, and allow new understanding to emerge.
Serenity grew from the belief that people deserve options. They deserve to be treated as individuals and to have care that considers their story, nervous system, relationships, physical well-being, values, and personal beliefs.
Today, my purpose remains rooted in helping people recognize that they are more than what has happened to them. Healing is rarely linear, and no provider has every answer. But when people feel safe, supported, and empowered to participate in their care, new possibilities can begin to emerge.

For much of my early life, I expected to continue the family tradition of working in the electrical field. My father, grandfather, and other family members had followed that path, and I took pride in carrying that legacy forward.
Life, however, brought experiences that changed the direction of my story.
The suicide of my older brother created a level of grief that I did not know how to process. I coped by putting more of myself into work and trying to continue functioning without fully addressing what I was carrying.
Later, I experienced the devastating loss of twins to Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. That grief, along with significant changes in my family and relationships, brought me to a point where I could no longer ignore my own need for healing.
After reconnecting with Nicole, who had been one of my closest friends since childhood, I began taking a more active role in my emotional and physical well-being. My healing journey included therapy, lifestyle changes, nutrition, integrative wellness, and experiences that encouraged deeper reflection, emotional openness, and connection.
Some of this healing was deeply personal, while some of it happened alongside Nicole. Together, we began to understand how grief, emotional pain, physical health, relationships, and long-standing patterns could affect not only how we felt individually, but also how we connected with one another.
Those experiences helped me recognize that healing is not always about fixing one isolated symptom. Sometimes it involves creating enough space to understand yourself differently, reconnect with what matters, and become more present in your own life and relationships.
During that process, I was introduced to LENS Neurofeedback. I became deeply interested in the brain’s ability to respond, regulate, and adapt, and I pursued training so that I could help others explore neurofeedback as one possible part of their care.
My interest continued to expand into functional wellness, gut-brain health, sleep, stress, nutrition, and the ways physical factors can influence how people feel and function.
My role at Serenity grew from my own experience of feeling lost, finding support, and discovering that healing often involves more than one part of life. I know what it is like to appear functional while carrying pain privately. I also understand how meaningful it can be when someone takes the time to listen, explain what may be happening, and offer practical options without judgment.
At Serenity, I bring both professional training and lived understanding to my work. My goal is not to tell clients that one method will solve everything. It is to help them become more curious about their brain and body, better understand contributing factors, and identify realistic steps that may support their well-being.
