A Self-Care Reset Trip: The Best Citi

You may not think about self-care much. However, as 2022 continues and the pandemic winds down, it’s important to try and leave behind the stresses and worries of the past.

A self-care trip can help! This is a short vacation to a relaxing destination can encourage you to unwind and reset, so it’s easier to tackle new goals.

Prepping For Your Trip

First things first: It’s best to plan so you can enjoy your getaway. Traveling for the sake of self-care is a must, but it’s ineffective if taking time away from your work or studies leaves you behind and stressed upon return.

Automate what you can at work, such as pre-scheduled social media posts and emails, and instruct staff on how to cover for your absence. Choose flexible online instruction if you’re furthering your education – such as getting your IT certifications or an MBA – which allows you to continue with your coursework wherever you have an internet connection. You’re sure to find wi-fi hotspots and internet cafes at the following destinations.

Whether you’re dreaming of upscale spas or rugged hikes, Serenity Wellness & Counseling presents these five cities for a fresh start:

Akron, Ohio

If you’re looking for that perfect getaway, you can’t go wrong with Akron. With a highly educated population of just under 200,000, Akron has all the benefits of a bigger city blended with scenic beauty and small town charm. Whether you’re considering a visit to the beautiful Akron Civic Theatre or a stop by Akronym Brewing for a cold one, there’s plenty to keep you occupied.

And for those who prefer the outdoors, Akron has you covered there, too. A visit to nearby Brandywine Falls is a must, not to mention Summit County Metroparks. And when you’re ready to refuel, don’t forget Akron’s impressive roster of restaurants!

Sedona, Arizona

When it comes to self-care, Sedona shines. This small town is known for its enlightened approach to life — you can find spas, meditation classes, and massages aplenty. Orchard Canyon notes that Sedona is also home to a variety of energy vortices, where spiritually minded people flock to soak in the atmosphere.

If your idea of self-care involves relaxing by the pool or taking a long hike, Sedona has you covered. It offers year-round sunshine and spectacular red-rock scenery. Explore Cathedral Rock and the Chapel of the Holy Cross, and visit breezy Oak Creek Canyon. Sedona is so beautiful and friendly, you might decide to stay forever.

Knoxville, Tennessee

If you’re after a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation, consider Knoxville, Tennessee. Laid-back and welcoming, this compact city has something for everyone. Stroll by the Tennessee River, take a day trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or try new beers at one of the local craft breweries. Bring your appetite — Knoxville is known for its exceptional barbecue and Southern fare. Don’t be surprised if the city’s energy wins you over.

Palm Springs, California

Are you looking for a stylish self-care getaway? It’s hard to beat Palm Springs. This California town is known for its retro, mid-century modern aesthetic. Pull up at a posh hotel, and soak in the gorgeous vintage vibe. Spend your days lounging in the sun by the pool, or try out one of the town’s many high-end spas. Hike or take a Jeep tour into the surrounding mountains, or enjoy the view from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. This town is so beautiful and rich in culture that you might find yourself looking at real estate by the end of the trip.

Cannon Beach, Oregon

Set on a breathtaking, windswept beach in western Oregon, the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce explains that Cannon Beach is rich in natural beauty. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all. You can easily spend hours strolling on the sand, hiking at Ecola State Park, and exploring the tide pools around Haystack Rock. The town itself is a haven for artists, so you can check out galleries specializing in jewelry, painting, and blown glass.

Cannon Beach is a popular tourist destination, but it’s also a year-round residence for artists and nature lovers. Move to this tiny town, and you become a part of a tight-knit community.

Houston, Texas

Texas is a grande state with many things to keep you occupied and refreshed, but Houston is one of the best places to visit. If you’re looking to relax, there are several beautiful parks to visit, and Hermann Park contains Japanese gardens, an outdoor theater, and a railroad. The city has a ton of history, too, and you can learn about it through their museums, historic home tours, and events.

Houston is also a food lover’s dream, especially if you love barbeque. But there are plenty of places to eat and drink throughout the city. So dig in and enjoy this great destination!

A Self-Care … Relocation?

All of these cities are amazing places to unwind on a mini-vacay, but what would it be like to really live there?

If you find yourself asking that very question during your visit, look into what it would take to move. Or, if you’re happy overall with your current location, look into buying a vacation home there instead.

Buying a rental home is a lot like buying a traditional home, except you’ll likely require a larger down payment since it’s not your primary residence. However, a vacation home can be a great place for you to escape any time, and you can rent it out Airbnb style when you’re not vacationing.

Be realistic about what you can afford though since you won’t have a guarantee that the property will be rented out consistently. You don’t want your paradise to become a larger source of stress in the long run.
