Hello! I am Bethany and I am currently a student therapist here at Serenity. My goal is to help you achieve your best self through counseling. I believe all great counseling relationships begin with rapport building, and setting therapeutic goals that can be reached through healing the whole being, which includes our minds, bodies, and souls. I am very excited you have chosen to take the first steps on your therapeutic journey, and hope to see you soon!

My desire to become a counselor stems from the need to help others and to better the world we live in. I have experienced trauma and pain in my past, and as I have recovered from these events, I grew to understand that my calling was to help others as others have helped me. I am passionate about helping people on their healing journey and am committed to supporting people every step of the way.

If I could teach the world one skill to improve their lives, I would teach them self-care. To me, the first step in all healing is learning to be kind with yourself. By teaching this skill, people will learn their limits, both mentally and physically, and this in turn can aid in the betterment of our minds, bodies, and souls. To best help others, we must first help ourselves!

I personally have been in counseling for several years now and believe this is a truly transforming process to undergo. I have gone from an overly anxious person to someone who is secure in her relationships, body, and mind. Counseling is a wonderful tool that changes lives, and it can changes yours too.

The Body Keeps Score, by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

This book changed how I viewed my own body and its experiences, and how trauma changes us from the inside out. However, it has made me realize that my responses to traumatic stimuli are valid, and that I am in the process of recovery, as well as ways to cope with trauma in my life.

My ideal client is someone who is ready to take the next steps on their journey to healing. Clients who are willing to commit to the process of counseling and are willing to make the necessary life changes to get to their goals, will always be welcomed here. There will be bumps along the way, however together we will overcome them and get you to a better, more successful life.

Personally, I enjoy reading a good book, spending quality time with my friends and family, and playing with my dogs and cat. I also enjoy spending time window shopping, going for long drives or long walks, and trying new places to eat in town!

I would invite my three best friends! These three people are some of the most fun, most comforting people I have ever had the opportunity to meet, and I love them all dearly. They have taught me many valuable life lessons, from how to deal with heartbreak to how to love yourself fully. I would not be the person I am today without them!

The goal for holistic practices is to help heal the whole person, not just parts of them. I aim to help you meet your therapeutic goals by providing you with a warm and inviting atmosphere that focuses on healing the whole you, including your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

  1. I am a big fan of the Houston Astros! I love watching them on TV, listening to them on the radio, or even going to a few games when I can!
  2. I enjoy candle-making! I make candles in vintage containers and glasses, and I will sometimes give them as gifts to my loved ones.
  3. I am an animal lover through and through! I have 4 dogs and a cat, all of which I love with my whole heart.
