Welcome

Welcome to Serenity Wellness and Counseling! I’m Michelle Wright, a licensed professional counselor at Serenity. I love working with all ages, 4 and older. Deciding to start the therapeutic process is a personal choice, and I want to make that journey as uncomplicated and comfortable as possible. I have been on the other side of the therapy room, and I understand it is not easy to open up and at times, become vulnerable. My personal counseling process begins with building a strong therapeutic rapport, assessing for problems, and finding goals and solutions that are tailored to each client.

SPOTLIGHT

I became a counselor because as a child I grew up in a very unstable environment. I didn’t have someone that I could go to and get assistance from in order to normalize my mental health. I would like to be that person for others in need.

One skill or technique that I would teach the world aside from empathy and understanding is that your thoughts direct your feelings, and your thoughts and feelings are the basis for your actions. These knowledge is crucial to everyone.

One book I would recommend to anyone is called, The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel Van Der Kolk,
M.D.

My ideal client is someone who will be vulnerable enough to let me into their personal world, and be open to the changes necessary to making their life into what they would like it to be.

My own self care consists of spending time with my husband and children, watching movies and my son play sports, and being in nature as much as possible.

If I had a dinner party, I would invite Jesus, because I would love to talk to him in person. I would invite Bill Clinton because I think he’s funny, and I would invite Lana Del Rey because we would need some good music, and my daughter loves her.

I incorporate holistic practices into sessions by focusing on all aspects of the client’s life; physical, emotional, social, and spiritual.

Love spending time with my family, the beach, college football, watching movies, board game enthusiast, and dog lover
