I am Morgan Davies, LMFT – I work with all ages but specialize in working with ages 0-18 and parenting support/parent child interaction. When working with me you need to know Maze, my incredible service/therapy dog. Maze has been an invaluable companion throughout my journey, bringing comfort and support to those in need. Together, we create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can find solace and embark on their path to self-discovery. Outside of the workplace, Maze plays a pivotal role in supporting my own mental health and ensuring it remains in check. As a service dog, Maze not only brings comfort and joy to others but also provides me with unwavering companionship and physical and emotional support. Maze is attuned to my needs, offering a listening ear and a gentle presence during moments of reflection and self-care.

As an experienced Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 7 years in the field, I am committed to supporting you on your journey towards improved mental health and overall well-being. Witnessing people’s transformative experiences and seeing them flourish as they learn to prioritize self-care fills me with immense joy and fulfillment. It is my firm belief that each individual possesses the strength and resilience needed to cultivate a life of purpose and happiness.

My ultimate goal is to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where you can embark on a transformative journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. Together, we will explore your inner strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and cultivate a profound sense of self-care.

How I work

In my counseling process, I prioritize the establishment of a strong therapeutic rapport with my clients. I believe that a trusting and supportive relationship is essential for effective therapy. This rapport provides a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Once a foundation of trust has been established, I engage in a thorough assessment to understand the specific problems and areas of need that you bring to therapy. This assessment helps me gain a comprehensive understanding of your unique circumstances, challenges, and goals. By collaboratively identifying the areas where you seek improvement, we can develop a roadmap for therapy that aligns with your needs and aspirations.

Throughout our sessions, I actively involve you in the therapeutic process. Collaboration is a crucial aspect of my approach, as I believe that you are the expert on your own life. Together, we work on setting meaningful goals and exploring potential solutions. I encourage your active participation, as your insights and perspectives are invaluable in shaping the therapy process.

In addition to providing support and guidance, I am not afraid to bring challenging questions and thoughts to our sessions. Sometimes, it is through exploring uncomfortable topics that profound insights and growth can occur. I strive to create an environment where you feel safe to explore these challenging areas, knowing that I am there to support you every step of the way.

I decided to become a counselor because of my innate ability to connect with others, particularly young children. I have always enjoyed building one-on-one connections and providing a safe and stable space for individuals to grow and thrive.

From a young age, I found myself drawn to listening and supporting others in their personal journeys. I have a natural empathy and compassion that allows me to connect with people on a deep level, understanding their experiences, emotions, and needs. This connection is especially strong when working with young children, as I find joy in witnessing their growth and development.

I believe that creating a safe and supportive environment is crucial for personal growth and healing. As a counselor, I have the privilege of providing that space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges without judgment or fear. I strive to foster trust and establish a strong therapeutic rapport, knowing that this foundation is essential for individuals to feel comfortable opening up and working towards positive change.

The desire to help others navigate their unique journeys and support their growth has always been a driving force behind my decision to become a counselor. I am passionate about empowering individuals to tap into their strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, and reach their fullest potential. Witnessing the transformation and resilience that can arise from therapeutic work brings me a sense of fulfillment and purpose in my role.

If you could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, what would it be? If I could teach the world one skill or technique to improve their lives, it would be the practice of attunement and kindness towards oneself.

Attunement and kindness to oneself involve developing a deep sense of self-awareness and compassion for one’s own experiences, emotions, and needs. It means listening to oneself with curiosity and non-judgment, acknowledging and validating one’s feelings, and responding to oneself with care and understanding.

By cultivating attunement and kindness to self, individuals can nurture their own well-being and inner growth. This practice allows for self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-validation, which are crucial for building resilience, managing stress, and fostering overall emotional well-being

I have been in counseling at different points in my life and found it beneficial for increasing self-reflection and building trust in myself. I believe that every therapist should experience therapy to gain an understanding of what it is like to be the client.

If I could recommend one book to all my clients, I would suggest “The Whole-Brain Child” by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, as well as the books written by Brené Brown.

My ideal client would be anyone who is attending therapy. I find the most success occurs in therapy when someone is willing to be vulnerable and open in sharing their personal experiences and challenges. When someone is open to change and are actively seeking to transform their lives according to their desires and aspirations results in great success.

Personally, I prioritize self-care by nurturing my creative side and focusing on activities that bring me joy and relaxation. One way I achieve this is through movement and exercise, as it not only benefits my physical well-being but also allows me to express myself. Another avenue I explore to practice self-care is by indulging in creative endeavors that involve working with my hands. Creating jewelry and earrings using clay taps into my artistic side and provides a therapeutic outlet for my creativity. It allows me to channel my thoughts and emotions into tangible pieces, promoting a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. To further enhance my self-care routine, I recently incorporated an acupuncture mat into my nighttime ritual. This mat helps my body and mind unwind, relaxes my muscles, and promotes better sleep and rest. By lying on the mat for a few minutes each evening, I can release tension, alleviate stress, and cultivate a deeper sense of calm and relaxation.

If I were hosting a dinner party, I would provide an open invitation, allowing anyone interested to join. I would try to create an inclusive and diverse gathering. Alongside the open invitation, I would also specifically invite Adele as she is talented musician, humble, genuine personality, and has a sense of humor.

In my practice, I utilize a holistic approach that embraces the power of art and hands-on activities. Incorporating these elements into our sessions helps foster an atmosphere of comfort and safety. Art and creative expression have a unique way of unlocking emotions, facilitating self-reflection, and promoting healing. By engaging in hands-on activities, we create a space where individuals can freely explore their thoughts, engage their senses, and experience a deeper connection with themselves.

Outside of my work, there are three interesting facts about me that shape my life and bring me joy. Firstly, I am engaged in various forms of exercise that help me with feeling healthy but also allow me to explore my passions related to movement of the body. Some of my pursuits are competitive ballroom dancing, Olympic lifting, and CrossFit. Another avenue for my creativity is crafting jewelry and earrings using polymer clay. This artistic outlet allows me to explore different colors, textures, and designs, creating unique pieces that express my individuality. Beyond these activities, I find great pleasure in spending quality time with my significant other and our furry companions at home.
